Eggs, Chickens, Turkeys, and Ducks

Laying Chickens
We raise a number of different heritage-breed chickens, including Araucanas, Ameraucanas, Rhode Island Reds, and Plymouth Rocks. This results in our beautiful spectrum of colored eggs. Our chickens roam freely all day and go back into their “tractor” structures (an enclosed trailer) to perch at night. These movable tractors have a wire floor that allows their waste to fertilize our pastures!  Eggs go fast, so visit us at farmer’s markets or at the store to get a dozen. And if you’ve never had a pasture-raised egg with a dark orange yolk… life is going to get better for you…

Chicken
Depending on the season and the level of our ambitions, we sometimes raise broilers (meat birds). At times we raise heritage breeds and other times we raise Cornish Cross. The Cornish are conventional birds but grow much faster and have larger breast meat. Despite being conventional birds, they live a very unconventional life- running around all day on our pastures.

Turkeys
Are you ready to shake it up this Thanksgiving? We raise Bourbon Red and Broad-breasted Bronze turkeys every holiday season. Our turkeys live on pasture (and throughout our yard and gardens!) These heritage breed birds have a wonderful flavor that we feel has been lost in conventional white birds. Email us if you are interested in reserving one this fall.

Ducks
We have a smorgasbord of ducks running around the farm including Saxony, Cayugas, and Indian Runners.  We don’t often have ducks available for purchase, but email us if you’re interested.
