Oh, those few days of autumn were wonderful…
We’re rounding out the summer here- planting our fall gardens and wrapping up the last of tomatoes (thank god) and melons. And most importantly, we finally got a bit of rain and the pastures have come back to life.
Party: So here’s the big deal. We’re having our Arabian Nights party on Sept. 19.
This should be an amazing night- good food, storytelling, music, dancing. Jay Pierce from Lucky 32 will be doing the meals and just sent us a rough menu outline:
- an almond raisin rice pilaf (vegetarian) as the base for some
- beef kebabs that are glazed with a pomegranate bbq sauce;
- short ribs braised with a touch of curry and an eggplant and grass-fed beef moussaka with a
- crumble of ricotta cheese that we made from Homeland Dairy buttermilk.
How incredible does that sound? We’ll also be roasting a goat and have a few more things up our sleeves. For details on pricing, times, and what to expect, click here.
Please RSVP via email or you can buy tickets this week at Carrboro and Greensboro’s farmer’s markets.
Other Farm Happenings:
We are nearly done with our new website. It looks great and we’re excited to let it go “live.” I will send out a heads-up when it does. In a few weeks we will be taking orders to reserve a heritage breed turkey for Thanksgiving. We’ll let everyone know when that happens. We’re also raising one more lot of chickens and they should be ready in a few weeks. Lastly, September is calving season and they began dropping yesterday!
If you’re a Greensboro customer: Ross will attend the curb market every other week from now on. If you would like to be on a weekly mailing list that let’s customers make requests, know what will be available that week, and also includes that week’s package deal- please let us know and we’ll add you to the list. We will be selling tomorrow- Sept 5. We’ve also moved to the parking lot to sell, so come find us there!
As always, our farm store is open Thursdays 2-6 and Saturdays 10-4. This is a great time of year to come take a stroll around. And during this Labor Day weekend, the Lil John’s Mountain Music festival is going on right next door.
If you have special requests for farmer’s markets, please let us know. Hope to see as many of you as possible at the party and have a great September
