The cool mornings, clear days, and fresh breezes have to make this the best time of the year on our farm. Remember to visit the farm store sometime this fall.

Thanks, first off, to all that joined us for our Arabian Nights party. We’ve received a great response and hope to do it again (different theme) sometime in the future. Pictures are on the here on our website if anyone is interested.

A few important updates:

1. We are having an October Beef bulk beef sale. This is definitely the best price we have ever sold beef at. We packed the boxes a few days ago so they have all been frozen immediately (after hanging). They also fit into two boxes, roughly 24″x16″x5″. So don’t worry, it won’t take up as much space as you’re worried about. We’re doing this 1. because it’s the most efficient and sustainable way to sell meat 2. because we would like to move many cows off of our land before the grasses stop growing this winter. This is why communities have long slaughtered animals in the fall and used that meat to provide for the family through the winter. Please see our website for pricing and other details.

2. It is turkey season. We have bourbon reds and broad-breasted bronze turkeys this year. This is a great opportunity to have an ethically-raised, flavorful, and locally-grown bird for your family and friends this holiday. Details about reserving them can be found here

3. About that website- Our new one is up! It’s gorgeous, user-friendly, has tons of info (updated too!), and has some new features like recipes and cooking advice from chefs.

That’s about all. We’ll be in Greensboro this week (and every other week afterward). They’ve been putting us outside, so look for us there. Remember to send any market requests to us during the week. Besides that, just let us know if you’re interested in bulk beef, turkeys, or if you just like our new website (thanks Sarah Cook!)

Party ‘could lead to excessive laughing’

Yesterday, we received several phone calls and emails inquiring about the Arabian Nights event on Sept 19th. All saying they heard about the event in the News and Observer. What?? We had no idea that Andrea Weigl was going to talk about our event in the Food & Fitness section. But we sure are glad she did! Thank you Andrea.

Come join us for the final banquet of the summer – The Arabian Nights.

Spend an evening out on the farm surrounded by beautiful land and happy animals.  Plus enjoy a party like you’ve never seen, with storytelling, amazing food, music and dancing, all based around the stories of the Arabian Nights Tales.

Tentative Menu:

Jay Pierce from Lucky 32 will be preparing the meal and he just sent us a rough menu outline:

• Beef kebabs  glazed with a pomegranate bbq sauce over an almond raisin rice pilaf (vegetarian)
• Short ribs braised with a touch of curry
• Eggplant and Grass-fed beef moussaka with a crumble of ricotta cheese made from Homeland Dairy buttermilk.

How incredible does that sound? We’ll also be roasting a goat and have a few more things up our sleeves.

You can purchase a ticket in the following ways:
– Buy one from us any of the farmer’s markets we attend – Carrboro on Wednesdays and Saturdays, Greensboro on Saturdays, Saxapahaw on Saturdays.
– Mail us a check or money order along with your name, contact info, and the number of tickets you wish to purchase.  Checks can be made payable to Cane Creek Farm and mailed to: 1203 Longest Acres Rd Snow Camp NC 27349.

Tickets are $40 for general public, or $30 for fellow farmers and/or students.

This is an evening of fun for adults only. We will be having many more events in the future that are kid friendly, so please be on the lookout for those!  We also have plenty of dogs for you to love on, so please leave yours at home for the night.
